INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY &
EMERGENCY SUPPORT
Practical, compassionate support for people and families navigating hardship, crisis and major life changes
At Exodus Community Services, we understand that life can become overwhelming, especially when people are facing crisis, family breakdown, grief, housing stress, financial pressure, violence, trauma, migration challenges or major changes in their circumstances.
Our Individual, Family & Emergency Support services are designed to help people feel heard, supported and connected to the right assistance. We work alongside individuals and families with dignity, respect and care, helping them navigate complex situations and access practical support when they need it most.
Whether someone is experiencing immediate hardship, adjusting to a major life transition, or needing help to understand and access services, our team provides compassionate support and guidance.

Support for Individuals and Families
Every person’s situation is different. Some people may need short-term practical help during a difficult season. Others may require longer-term support to work through multiple challenges, access services, stabilise their circumstances and rebuild confidence.
Our team works with individuals and families to understand what is happening, identify the most urgent needs, and develop a practical support pathway. This may include help with referrals, appointments, service navigation, forms, advocacy, emotional support and connection to community programs.
We aim to reduce the stress of facing complex systems alone.
Domestic and Family Violence Support
Exodus provides trauma-informed support for people affected by domestic and family violence. This may include emotional support, safety-focused conversations, referrals to specialist services, help understanding available options, and support connecting with appropriate legal, housing, financial or counselling pathways.
We understand that domestic and family violence can affect people in many ways, including their safety, housing, finances, parenting, relationships, health, confidence and sense of stability. Our team responds with care, discretion and respect.
If someone is in immediate danger, they should call emergency services on 000.
Emergency Housing and Crisis Support
Housing stress can place individuals and families under enormous pressure. Exodus can help people explore available emergency housing and homelessness support pathways, including referrals to appropriate services.
While Exodus is not an emergency accommodation provider, our team can assist people to understand their options, connect with housing services and access other supports that may help during a crisis.
Where immediate accommodation support is required, we can help link people with the relevant crisis and homelessness services.
Refugee, Migrant and CALD Community Support
Exodus supports people from refugee, migrant and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who may be navigating settlement challenges, language barriers, family pressures, service systems, employment, housing, legal concerns or trauma.
We aim to provide a welcoming and respectful environment where people feel safe to ask for help. Where needed, we can help connect people with interpreting services, culturally appropriate supports, health services, legal pathways and community resources.
Support After Loss and Major Life Changes
Major life changes can be deeply destabilising. This may include the death of a loved one, separation, divorce, family breakdown, retirement, parenting changes, migration, unemployment, health changes or other significant transitions.
Exodus can support individuals and families as they adjust, grieve, make practical arrangements, access services and begin to rebuild stability.
Our support is grounded in compassion, dignity and hope.
Advocacy and Service Navigation
Many people come to Exodus because they are unsure where to start. They may be facing multiple challenges at once and need someone to help them understand what support is available.
Our team can assist with:
-
Referral pathways to specialist services
-
Advocacy with external agencies where appropriate
-
Support accessing health, housing, legal, disability and financial services
-
Help understanding options and next steps
-
Connection with community programs and practical assistance
-
Support communicating with services, including interpreter pathways where needed
We do not replace specialist legal, medical, housing or financial services, but we can help people connect with the right supports.
