COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

AND VOLUNTEERING

Creating connection, belonging and opportunities to serve our community

At Exodus Community Services, we believe that strong communities are built through connection, compassion and shared purpose. Our Community Engagement and Volunteering programs bring people together through events, groups, practical support and meaningful opportunities to serve.

Whether someone is looking for support, friendship, encouragement, a place to belong, or a way to give back, Exodus offers welcoming spaces where individuals, families, young people, seniors and volunteers can connect and contribute.

Our community programs are designed to reduce isolation, strengthen wellbeing, build relationships and create a sense of belonging across all stages of life.

Events and Fundraising

Exodus hosts community and fundraising events throughout the year to bring people together, raise awareness and support the ongoing work of the organisation.

These events help strengthen relationships across the community while also raising much-needed funds for programs that support individuals and families experiencing hardship, crisis and isolation.

Fundraising events are an important way for the wider community to partner with Exodus and make a practical difference.

Volunteering at Exodus

Use your time, skills and heart to make a difference

Volunteers play a vital role in the life and mission of Exodus. They help us extend care, hospitality, practical support and encouragement to people across the community.

Volunteering with Exodus is a meaningful way to serve others, build relationships, develop skills and contribute to something bigger than yourself. Whether someone can volunteer regularly, occasionally, as part of a group, or through a workplace team, there are many ways to get involved.

We welcome volunteers from different ages, backgrounds, skills and experiences.

Volunteering Opportunities

Our volunteering programs include:

  • Tutoring and mentoring young people

  • Duke of Edinburgh volunteering opportunities

  • School holiday youth volunteer days

  • Food assistance program support

  • Senior support

  • Reception and welcoming team

  • Community event support

  • Fundraising event support

  • Corporate volunteering

  • Practical assistance and program support

Each volunteering role helps strengthen the work of Exodus and supports people in practical, relational and meaningful ways.

Tutoring and Mentoring Young People

Volunteers can support young people through tutoring, mentoring and encouragement. This may include helping with schoolwork, building confidence, offering positive role modelling and creating a supportive relationship that helps young people feel seen and valued.

Mentoring can make a powerful difference in the life of a young person, especially when they are navigating challenges at school, home or in the community.

Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering

Exodus provides opportunities for young people completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award to participate in meaningful community service.

Through volunteering, students can contribute to their local community, develop responsibility, build confidence and gain valuable experience in service, teamwork and leadership.

School Holiday Youth Volunteer Days

Our school holiday youth volunteer days give young people the opportunity to serve the community in practical ways.

These days may include helping with programs, community projects, food support, events or other volunteer-led activities. They are a great way for young people to build empathy, develop leadership skills and experience the joy of giving back.

Food Assistance Program

Volunteers assist with food support programs that help individuals and families experiencing hardship.

This may include sorting, packing, preparing or distributing food, as well as helping create a welcoming and respectful environment for people accessing support.

Food assistance is more than meeting a practical need. It is also a way of reminding people that they are not alone.

Senior Support

Volunteers can support seniors through social connection, practical help, community programs and events.

This may include assisting with seniors gatherings, providing hospitality, helping with activities, offering companionship and supporting older people to remain connected to community life.

Reception and Welcoming Team

Our reception and welcoming team helps create a warm first point of contact for people who come to Exodus.

Volunteers in this area may assist with greeting visitors, answering general enquiries, supporting reception tasks and helping people feel welcome, respected and comfortable.

A warm welcome can make a big difference, especially for someone reaching out for help.

Corporate Volunteering

Corporate volunteering gives workplaces and teams the opportunity to support the community through practical service, fundraising, events or project-based volunteering.

It is a meaningful way for businesses to give back, strengthen team culture and partner with Exodus in supporting people and families across the community.

Why Volunteer with Exodus?
